Major homes plan at Peel Hall threatens “last green space”

CONTROVERSIAL plans for 1,200 homes, together with shops, restaurants, offices, a school and other facilities at Peel Hall have been lodged with Warrington Borough Council.
But today, Warrington North MP Helen Jones – a long-standing opponent of development in the area – urged people to register their views about the proposals put forward by developers Satnam.
She said: “If successful this application will change the face of the area for ever, and one of the last green spaces in Warrington North will be lost for good.
“ The scope of this proposed development is huge and the knock-on effects on surrounding areas will be considerable.
“There has been massive opposition to previous plans and I urge people to let the council planners know exactly what they think of these new proposals.”
The outline planning application is for a new mixed-used neighbourhood with up to 1,200 dwellings, a residential care home, local centre with food store, restaurants and cafes, pubs, hot food takeaways and offices.
There would also be an employment area, with uses including research and light manufacturing, sports pitches and a primary school.
Ms Jones says residents will have 21 days to comment on the proposals from August 25.
The plans will be available for viewing from the end of this week at

Comments can be made via the borough council’s website or by writing to the council’s planning department at New Town House, Buttermarket Street, Warrington WA1 2NH.
