Weird creatures, edible insects at Daresbury Laboratory

ARTIFICIAL intelligence, edible insects, culinary flame throwing, weird creatures – they are all part of a new Talking Science lecture programme from Daresbury Laboratory, near Warrington.
The free programme has something for everyone and is jam packed with inspirational, age-appropriate science talks, to keep you up to date with the latest exciting developments in science and how it affects your daily life.
The programme is as followings:
Sept 7:  Mersey Gateway Bridge, from planning to construction. 7pm.
Sept 23 A is for Arsenic: the Poisons of Agatha Christie. 7pm
Oct 21: Tales from Television: bringing the natural world to your living room. 7pm
Dec 9: Why don’t bats get fresher’s flu? 7pm.
Jan 20: Alder Hey, the world’s first living hospital. 7pm.
Feb 17: Half Term special lecture – Eat My Science. 1pm
Mar 9: Space rocks on ice – hunting for meteorites in Antarctica. 7pm
Ap 21: Weird Creatures 6pm
May 19: A Talk from the Future: Artificial Intelligence in the Year 2040. 7pm
Wendy Cotterill, senior public engagement officer at Daresbury, who has organised the events, said: “We have such an exciting and diverse range of topics for this year’s Talking Science programme, some of which have a specific North West focus.  There is something for everyone
and we even have a special Half Term lecture. Science affects every aspect of our lives, and will continue to do so – our free Talking Science events give everyone a chance to learn about the latest in science and technology and to discuss it with the experts.”
Tickets are free, must be booked in advance and run out fast – so make a note in your diary to avoid disappointment.
