Green Belt mobile home approved

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a mobile home at a farm at Rixton – against the advice of their officers.
But the permission will be for a temporary period of three years only.
The mobile home at Moss Farm, Moss Lane, Rixton, is to house a member of staff to provide security for horses stabled on the site.
Rixton with Glazebrook Parish Council opposed the scheme on the grounds it was unnecessary – and officers recommended it be refused because the site was in the Green Belt and horses had been kept there for eight years without the need for security.
The borough council’s development management committee was told the applicant had already changed his proposals so that the mobile home would be less visible.
He argued that in the past, horses had been cared for on the site by their owners. But he was now proposing a full livery service, with staff present to look after the animals.
A member of staff would be needed on site to provide security against theft, arson, escaped animals, attacks on horses, etc.
The livery service was needed to enable the farm to remain viable.
