Early confidence – then Grappers crash by seven wickets

GRAPPENHALL must have pretty confident after amassing 269-4 in their Vivio Cheshire County League game against Sale at Broad Lane.
Overseas star Ryan Ninnan hit an unbeaten 116 – his first century for Grappers –  and Peter Barnes hit 62 as the home side made good use of an excellent batting track.
After Sam Guest and Gaz Burns dismissed the Sale openers cheaply things looked good for Grappers – but only one more wicket fell as the bowlers toiled and two Sale batsmen hit centuries as they reached their target with seven wickets to spare.
Grappenhall 2nd went down by two wickets at Sale where they batted first and hit 203. Opener Paul Radage hit 53, Jack Critchley 39 and Mike Holden 33.
Arthur Pennington took 4-47 and Ben Cagna 2-51 but the home side reached their target with two wickets remaining.
Grappenhall 3rd salvaged something for the club however, beating Toft by seven wickets.
Toft were held to 142-8, with Ben Bravington  taking four wickets and Richard Wilves three.  Olly Turpin hit 60 as Grappers cruised to victory.
Warrington went down by 49 runs  at Bollington where the home side hammered 238-9. Brad McIntosh was Warrington’s most successful bowler, with 4-67 while Ashley Scoles took 2-53 and Nuew Stone 2-55.
Stone was in form with the bat too, hitting 55 as Warrington were bowled out for 189, Opener Malcolm Agar hit 42 and Will Fleetwood 55.
Warrington 2nd defeated Stockport by three wickets at Walton Lea. The visitors were dismissed for 160, Ryan Swart taking 3-38 and Isaac Webster 3-22.  Warrington coasted to 164-7, Simon Swain hitting 67 and Rob Batey 39.
In the Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park enjoyed a 41-run victory at Heaton Mersey.
Batting first, Lymm totalled 201-8 Shahzad Butt hitting 55 and Matthew Carr 42. The home side were bowled out for 169, Blair Weller taking 4-39, Syed Khan 2-49 and Jack Hughes 2-33.
Lymm 2nd also won, hitting 157-9 at Oughtrington Lane and then dismissing Heaton Mersey for 129.
Graham Waumsley hit 35 and Asim Shah 33 for Lymm while the most effective bowler was Shovan Chatterjee who took 4-47.
Appleton were held to a draw at Cheshire County Officers after taking first knock and reaching 177-5.   Karnthiraj Gavaskar took 4-37 and Joe Cooper 3-19 as the home side reached 149-9.
The 2nd XI game at Lyons Lane was abandoned as a draw after a heavy rain storm. Appleton had hit 220-4, Mike Arnold 72 and Josh Coghlan 85 and County Officers were on 86-4 when the deluge arrived. Michael Cumberland took 2-13.
Warrington 3rd coasted to an eight wicket victory over Aston after dismissing them for 135.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Glazebury returned to winning ways with a five wicket victory over Winsford at Hurst Lane.  The visitors were dismissed for 147, Dave Acton taking 5-39, Sam Stanier 2-34 and Jack Warhurst 2-36.
The home side replied with 150-5 thanks to a fine unbeaten 70 from Ian Black.
Glazebury 2nd went down at Kerridge where the Macclesfield outfit batted first and reached 243-9, Jordan Carroll taking 5-71. Glazebury replied with 124 Nirpal Bansel top scoring with 43 and skipper David Nicholson hitting 24.
Rylands 2nd enjoyed a good win over Styal, batting first and reaching 184, of which Simon Sparks hit 122.Styal were dismissed for 148, the Rylands bowlers sharing the wickets.
