Warrington Town put football well and truly on map!

CONGRATULATIONS to Warrington Town Football Club on their historic record-breaking title winning season.

Backing up last season’s FA Cup heroics, the club has now well and truly put football on the map in Warrington.

Next season they will be competing in the Premier Division of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, the highest level in the club’s history – just two more promotions away from the National Conference.gary 2015

With nearly 1,500 fans cheering them on when they were presented with the league trophy and average gates now doubling what they were a couple of seasons back, there is certainly an appetite for football in the town, often described as a rugby town.

With a population of around 220,000 Warrington is certainly big enough to support two sporting brands. Nearby Wigan and further afield at Huddersfield and Hull, it has been demonstrated that rugby league and football can both succeed side by side.

Hopefully Warrington Town can continue to grow and prosper and bring further sporting success to our town.

It certainly won’t be for the lack of trying behind the scenes and if the people of Warrington continue to get behind the team, further success will follow.

Work is already ongoing preparing for next season which should be an exciting one for all football fans in the town, with Warrington traveling to some new destinations.

Here at warrington-worldwide we will continue to follow the club home and away throughout the season, giving extensive coverage online.

Meanwhile we hope you enjoy our souvenir poster in this month’s issue and display it with pride – the future’s bright – the future is Yellow!

Finally, next month the local elections will be over and it will be interesting to see the make-up of the council, with several independents throwing their hats in the ring.

No sooner will the dust settle on the local elections, we will then have the European Referendum.

Whether it is the local elections or the European elections, use your vote wisely, as I suspect there may be some closely run contests – and every vote could be the one which makes the difference!
