A CULCHETH girl has raised £645 for a hospice where her auntie is battling cancer – by having her long hair cut short.
Nine-year-old Nicole Skinner, a pupil at Twiss Green Primary School, also donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real-hair wigs to children suffering from hair loss free of charge.
Nicole was devastated when her auntie, Karen Bennett, was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 34.
She is now battling the disease at Wigan and Leigh Hospice so Nicole decided to do something to raise money for the hospice.  She realised that by having her long hair cut off she could help two good causes at the same time and had her hair cut at a local salon free of charge.
Her mum, Kelly, said: “We were all terribly upset when my sister got cancer and we are hoping she can beat it. But we are so proud of Nicole and all the people who sponsored her to raise the money.
“We can’t thank them enough.”
