WARRINGTON based World cup winner Roger Hunt is auctioning off a host of his sporting memorabilia which is expected to generate a six figure sum.
More than 60 items belonging to the former Liverpool and Warrington Town legend will go under the hammer in London on Tuesday April 26.
Among the auction items on offer will be his Division One winners’ medal which he won under Bill Shankly in 1965/66 when Hunt, now aged 77, top scored with 29 league goals.
Hunt, who lives in Culcheth and recently guested at an event in Lymm commemorating the 50th anniversary of Brazil staying at the Lymm Hotel, has also decided to sell a host of international shirts and caps from his England career.
But his prized winners’ medal from the 1966 World Cup will not be going under the hammer.
Brothers Bobby and Jack Charlton and Hunt are now the only players who started the final against West Germany who still own their medals. The other eight have been sold to collectors or to museums.
If guide prices are met the items will generate an estimated £100,000.
The auction is by Graham Budd Auctions at Sotheby’s in London on Tuesday, April 26 from 10.30am.
