ORGANISERS of last year’s ground-breaking Warrington Festival have announced the dates for this year’s event – September 16-30

Some of the biggest organisations in the town including, LiveWire, Warrington Borough Council and Culture Warrington will come together again to offer a range of activities to celebrate the borough for two weeks in September.

The theme for this year’s festival will be Rio, in line with the 2016 Olympics which is being held in the colourful Brazilian city.

Line-up for the family focused festival is still to be announced but the activities will once again celebrate sport, culture and entertainment.

Last year’s event brought more than 20,000 people into the town across its 25 events which were entirely inclusive for the whole family.

Highlights last year included a headline performance by Pixie Lott at Bank Park, The English Half Marathon and 10K, LiveWire Mile, Medieval Market, Jimmy Carr at Parr Hall and the 160th Anniversary of Warrington Museum.

Emma Hutchinson, chairman of the Warrington Festival steering group, said: “We’re very excited to be bringing Warrington Festival back for 2016. Last year’s event was a fantastic success and it really brought different communities in the town together and it’s hoped that we can build on the success this year”.
