Works evacuated as fire breaks out

A WORKS building at Warrington was evacuated this morning when fire broke out in a silo.
Fire crews from Warrington and Birchwood  were called to the scene at Shred-It, Lyncastle Road, on the Barleycastle Trading Estate at Appleton Thorn.
Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire spread within the silo and then cooled down machinery using a hose reel jet.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus removed parts of an inspection panel to that the contents could be doused.
As these operations were outside the building, staff were allowed back into the workplace.
The cause of the outbreak has not been ascertained as yet.
