Warrington continues tributes for Viola Beach

THE flag at Warrington Town Hall will continue to be flown at half-mast this week as a mark of the town’s respect and support for the families of the band Viola Beach and their manager, Craig Tarry.

Books of condolence at the town hall and the council’s customer contact centre in Horsemarket Street will also remain open for people wishing to express their sympathy.

Warrington Wolves will hold a minute’s applause ahead of their Super League game against Wakefield on Friday night.

Mayor of Warrington, Councillor Geoff Settle, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of this talented young band so tragically lost.

“Warrington has been devastated by this event, with many people still coming to terms with what has happened. Tributes continue to pour on to social media sites and a great many people have shared their thoughts through the books of condolence.

“Calls are being been made for a memorial for the band and the council is willing to support these in principle, but of course anything of this kind will first have to be discussed with the families at the appropriate time.”

Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin attended Priestley College, and were due to play a homecoming gig at the Pyramid next month. Their car crashed in the early hours of Sunday 14 February.

There will be a period of reflection at the next full council meeting on 29 February.
