Church Street to be dug up for new water main

A 63-metre stretch of Church Street, Frodsham is to be dug up to enable new water mains to be laid in an operation starting on November 8.
But United Utilities – responding to fears expressed by local traders and by Frodsham Town Council – have pledged to get the work completed before the Frodsham Christmas Festival on November 28.
A representative of the utilities giant attended the monthly meeting of the Town Council to answer questions from councillors and offer assurances to residents.
Single lane traffic will be operated in Church Street, controlled by traffic lights. But the lights will be manned to ensure traffic is kept moving as smoothly as possible. The lights will be manned from 7am to 7pm.
The council was told the work was urgent and could not be put off until later. Preliminary work had already been carried out at the rear of properties in Church Street.  But the main work would not start until after work on the M56 Junction 12 had been completed – which should be on November 6.
Angry shopkeeper have complained that the work could impact on trade in the run-up to Christmas. But the United Utilities spokesman said everything possible would be done to ensure the work was completed on schedule.
If for some reason it could not be finished, it would be halted to enable the Christmas Festival to go ahead.
