Help keep the electoral roll up to date – and keep your vote!

RESIDENTS OF Warrington are being asked to confirm their details to make sure the electoral register is up to date – and that they are able to vote in the future.
Household enquiry forms were issued by the borough council in August and many respondents don’t realise they need to send their form back even if their details are the same.
The form asks residents to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register for those living at their address is correct as part of the council’s annual voter registration canvass.
Aim of the form is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.
It’s particularly important that anyone who has moved address recently looks out for the form and checks whether they are registered.
Chief executive of the council and returning officer, Steven Broomhead, said: “Many people assume that because their details haven’t changed they don’t need to inform us, but if you want to have a say at election time it’s really important you confirm they are correct. With local elections and Police and Crime Commissioner elections taking place in May, this is an opportunity for residents to make sure that they can easily be able to take part.
“Simply check the form and return it as promptly as possible. Anyone that wants to vote must be registered. If you’re not currently registered, we’ll send you information explaining how to do this or you can go online to apply to register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”
Any residents who have any questions can contact the elections team on 01925 442184
