High school survey aids windfarm debate

A SURVEY carried out by pupils at Helsby High School is providing useful information for the public meetings being held to give people an opportunity to learn about the £3 million that will become available to the local community following construction of the Frodsham Windfarm.
Pupils are attending the meetings at Frodsham, Helsby and Elton and displaying the results of their survey.
Helsby High School has been keen to gather the views not only of their students, but of staff, parents, governors, local residents and partner primary school pupils.
They received  more than 900 responses to their survey on how the Windfarm Community Fund should be spent.
Of the 913 people who answered the survey,  more than 90 per cent would like the fund to be spent on projects that would benefit both the school and the community, and more than 80 per cent wanted the funds to be spent on a large, significant project.
The most popular suggestion was improved indoor and outdoor sports facilities that could be used by Helsby High School pupils, partner primary schools and local groups and clubs.
