Top tourism award for Walton Hall and Gardens

WARRINGTON’S Walton Hall and Gardens has been awarded a prestigious tourism status by the national tourist board, Visit England.

The attraction was praised in a recent report for ‘well maintained gardens bringing an abundance of colour’, ‘the zoo and play area which provide excellent entertainment for children and their families’ and the ‘excellent service in the café and high standards of car parking facilities’.

The VisitEngland Quality Rose Marque only gets awarded to attractions that have been independently assessed against the national standards of the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme.

Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “Walton Hall and Gardens is the perfect place for a family day out and we feel privileged and proud that our much loved park has been recognised as a top quality visitor attraction. We will continue to invest in and develop Walton Hall and Gardens, building on the successful completion of the Hall extension and the new public toilets that were opened last year. This autumn we will be replacing the existing younger children’s play area with a fantastic new facility which will give families even more reason to visit.

“We hope this new status attracts more visitors and I would encourage people to continue to enjoy the beautiful grounds this summer and beyond.”

With 32 acres of picturesque parkland, award-winning Green Flag gardens, activities for all the family, wedding services and unique children’s zoo, Walton Hall and Gardens provides a great day out for the whole family.

Walton Hall is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies in its Concert Room and function room, or outdoors on the Victorian-style bandstand.

Visitors can enjoy spacious lawns, a Heritage Centre Cafe and picnic areas, play area, children’s zoo, pottery in the park and various other outdoor activities.

  1. Well deserved 😀 A beautiful place and a credit to all the people who maintain it, look after the animals and also to those who are working hard to make it even better and to secure more funding including to hopefully restore the old glasshouses etc … and to think the council nearly sold it a few years ago. So glad they had a change of heart after all the public outrage !
