Parking charges to rise

1

PARKING charges at Warrington’s Walton Hall Gardens are to rise by 30p from Friday, July 3.
The borough council has approved the increases which will mean the charge for a private car will increase to £2.50 on weekdays and £3.50 at weekends and on Bank Holidays.
Charges for coaches will also rise by 30p to £6.60 on weekdays and at weekends.
Failure to display a valid ticket, or contravention of the car park conditions may result in a penalty charge of £50 to £70, the charge depending on the severity of the contravention. This charge can be reduced by half if paid within 14 days.
The release fee of £90 remains unchanged.
Council chiefs say the “modest increases” are to ensure the car park continues to be properly maintained.
The car park has 150 spaces and in addition there are about 750 spaces on a field at the rear of the car park.

  1. It’s about time the council put their brains in gear and changed the parking charge during week days perhaps between 9am and 3pm (school hours) so that people who just like to go for an hour or so to walk their dogs or for their younger children to have a quick play can pay a lesser amount rather than than the FULL days charge.
I’d go a lot more if it was say £1 for an hour or £1.50 for up to 2 hours and in the long run the council would probably make more money as I’m sure a lot of other people would be happy to pay a lesser amount for an hour or so rather than staying away due to having to pay the full days charge.
