Tories hold seats after borough elections

FRODSHAM’S two sitting Conservative councillors on Cheshire West and Chester Council both held on to their seats comfortably in the borough council elections.
Andrew Dawson  (pictured) topped the poll with 26.06 per cent of the poll, closely followed by Lynn Riley, with 23.13 per cent of the poll. But bucking the national trend Labour took control of Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The composition of the new council is 38 Labour, 36 Conservatives and one Independent.
In line with the national results in the General Election and other local elections, the Liberal Democrats suffered badly locally, claiming only 2.57 per cent of the vote and coming bottom of the poll.

Vera Roberts (Lib Dem) 242.

In Helsby, it was a similar story with sitting Conservative councillor Alan McKie retaining his seat with a comfortable majority over Labour.

David Hampton (Green) 220
Valerie Melnyczuk (Lib Dem) 134.

At Kingsley the story was repeated again, with sitting Conservative councillor Ralph Oultram romping home with 55.37 per cent of the vote.
