Man rescued from blaze flat

A MAN was rescued from a smoke-filled first floor flat at Warrington.
Three fire engines from Warrington and Stockton Heath were called to the blaze in Ulverston Avenue, Orford.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and rescued the man. He was then handed over to ambulance crews while firefighters tackled the blaze.
Main jets and hosereel jets were used in the operation to bring the fire under control.
It is believed the blaze was started by discarded smoking materials.
In a separate incident, a fire crews from Stockton Heath went to Lyons Lane, Appleton where a bin was ablaze.
It is believe the fire was started deliberately and anyone with information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
