MEMBERS of Newton and district Jubilee Rotary Club will be in the centre of Culcheth on Friday and Saturday, May 30/31 selling Crocus lapel badges in aid of the Rotary movement’s international effort to stamp out polio.
The virus now only exists in remote areas of three countries, Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan and this is where the final stage of the battle against the disease is being fought.
Rotarians – seven of who have died at the hands of the Taliban – have vaccinated millions of childen.
Local Rotarians will be at Culcheth Community Day on May 5 with a display, Inner Wheel bric-a-brac tent and golf chipping challenge.
On June 1 the club will be at Birchwood Carnival and on July 5 at Croft Carnival, on both occasions with a coconut shy.
Plans are also underway for the annual Beer Festival on September 13/14 at Culcheth Sports Club.
Anyone interested in joining the club is asked to call Bernard Groom on 01925 733893.
