Social enterprise to provide adult care

TOWN Hall chiefs at Warrington have agreed to progress plans for the creation of a social enterprise to provide adult social care in-house services.
The decision was made by the council’s executive board after members had studied the business case for a number of options.
It is expected the change will be completed by June 1.
Any contract awarded will be subject to the council’s robust contract management and quality assurance processes.
Back in September, the board agreed in principle to the creation of a social enterprise following a detailed review of a number of proposals.
In addition to council scrutiny there has also been consultation with service users, carers and their families about their views and priorities when it comes to in house services.
Cllr Pat Wright (right), the council’s lead member for health, wellbeing and adult social care, said: “We are in a challenging financial position and we have to find ways of providing the services that are most important to our residents on a smaller budget.
“Various options were investigated as part of this review and the social enterprise was considered to offer the best outcome in terms of being able to continue to provide good quality services, creating savings and preventing a reduction in services. We will keep service users informed during this process and the council remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable in our community and putting residents first both now
and in the future.”
