Grappers go down to league leaders

GRAPPENHALL went down by seven wickets to table toppers Chester Boughton Hall in the ECB Premier division of the Vivio Cheshire County League.
Batting first, Grappers reached 242-8, which seemed a reasonable target to get the home side. Adam Roylance hit 77, Liam Parkinson, promoted to opener, hit 42 and there were useful knocks from James McCoy, 46 and skipper Richard Green, 33 not out.
But Chester hit back with a vengeance and raced to 243-3, plundering runs from the Grappenhall attack.
Grappenhall 2nd also lost to the Chester outfit at Broad Lane.
Will Sharp hit a superb 125 as Grappers reached 260-7 and Ian Barnes, 53 and Andy Tetlow, 32, contributed useful innings. But Chester replied with 261-5, despite the best efforts of Matt Titchard, 3-88 and Neil Muttock, 2-83.
It was left to the 3rd XI to bring glory to Grappenhall. They bowled out Didsbury for 85, Richard Wiles taking 4-32 and Paul Tyreman 3-3. Then Steve Newell hit an unbeaten 37 as Grappers replied with 86-6.
Warrington defeated Stockton by 55 runs, hitting 158-6, Richard Heaney 34 not out, James Rudd 31 not out, and Brian McIntosh 36.
Then the “Adams family” tore through Stockport’s batting, dismissing them for 103. Kyle Adams took 5-42 and Matt Adams 3-27.
Warrington 2nd lost by seven wickets when they took on Stockport at Walton Lea. Warrington were bowled out for 120 and the visitors replied with 123-3.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Glazebury came out on top in the “derby” game at Appleton.
The home side batted first and were dismisssed for 77, Sam Thorley, 13 and Ehtisham Rashid, 18 being the only two batsmen to reach double figures. Paul Charlton took 3-25, Hakeem Dahou 2-9 and Tom Wilkinson 3-18.
Glazebury lost four wickets reaching their target, Wayne Hargreaves top scoring with 19, Dave Mason hitting 15, Chris Lord 17 not out and Wilkinson 13 not out.
Glazebury 2nd lost at home to Port Sunlight with the home side batting first and reaching 139-9, Chris Ayre taking 4-81 and Sean Caine 4-54.
Phil McCue top scored with 27 and Paul Warhurst hit 19 as Glazebury were bowled out for 104.
Appleton 3rd earned a draw at Wilmslow, hitting 180-5 in reply to the home side’s 251-5 declared.
Strugglers Rylands were tumbled out for 59 by Haslington, Eddie Platt, 12 and Jordan Carroll, 14 not out, being the only two batsmen to reach double figures. Haslington replied with 60-0.
Stretton 2nd were dismissed for 91 at Mellor and then saw the home side march to 93-5.
