Historic clock restored

THE historic village clock in Mustard Lane, Croft, near Warrington has been restored by specialist firm Smith of Derby.

Newly painted in black and gold, the clock mechanism has also been given its annual service to ensure in remains in fine working order.

Croft Parish Council chairman Cllr Les Hoyle said: “The clock is an historic landmark of the village. We are delighted to be preserving this important part of the village’s heritage.”

The clock tower was originally part of the village school and was retained when the school was demolished and replaced with a modern building on the other side of the road more than 40 years ago.
