Winning run comes to an end

GRAPPENHALL’S recent run of victories came to an end with a comprehensive defeat by Hyde at Broad Lane.
The result leaves Grappers level with Hyde in third place in the Vivio Cheshire County League premier division
Winning the toss, Hyde chose to bat first on a hard, pacy track with good bounce. They made a great start with an initial partnership of 142 before Josh McClelland made the first breakthrough.
A further two wickets reducing Hyde to 144-3 but another partnership then added 66.
Grappenhall bowled steadily, though perhaps not as well as of late, as Hyde were eventually bowled out in the last over for a formidable 262.
Luke Williams took 4-63 and Jack Critchley 4-66.
Grappenhall made a rapid start to their reply with James McCoy hitting a quickfire 25 before he perished with the score at 32.
Wickets then fell at regular intervals with only McClelland able to build an innings, finishing on 65 not out from an all-out total of 140.
Grappenhall 2nd turned the tables at Hyde, however, restricting the home side to 199-8 after putting them in.
Grappers replied robustly, reaching 205-2 in the 34th over, Andy Tetlow hitting a fine century.
Warrington 3rd went down at Oxton, where the home side batted first and hit 221. Aaron Chaderton, 3-28, was the pick of the Warrington bowlers.
Warrington were bowled out for 175, Dave Selvan 38 and William Gilbert 47.
At Walton Lea, Warrington 4th managed to hang on for a draw after Upton had hit 226-3. Warrington were 207-8 at the close, Tim Palmer hitting 51 and Dominic Hastings 53.
The Cheshire Alliance derby game between Rylands and Appleton ended in a three wicket win for Appleton.
Rylands were dismissed for 164, Richard Buck top scoring with 52, Phil Osmont hitting 30 and Danny Oliver taking 6-46. Aamir Rashid took 3-28.
Appleton’s batsmen responded well and they reach 167-3. Dom Smith hit 31 and Ali Sharif 36.
Appleton 2nd enjoyed an eight wicket win over visiting Rostherne, who were dismissed for 139, Luke Truin taking 4-11.
Andrew Tyrer hit an unbeaten 85 as Appleton replied with 140-2, Entisham Rashid contributing 29 not out.
Stretton cantered to a nine wicket victory over Old Parkonians after bowling the visitors out for 81, A Raza taking 5-41.
J Wells hit 46 as Stretton replied with 82-1.
But Stretton 2nd suffered an eight wicket defeat at Port Sunlight, being bowled out for 123 and then seeing the home side stroll to 127-2. Jason Taylor took 2-44.
Rylands 2nd were beaten by three wickets at Mellor. Batting first, Rylands were struggling at 72-9 but then the last pair of Sujith, 39 not out and Garcoi, 25 enabled to reach a more respectable 142.
But the home side replied with 143-7, despite Sujith taking 4-54.
Struggling Glazebury went down by 42 runs at Wilmslow Wayfarers.
The home side batted first and hit 192, Christopher Ayre taking 5-41 and Tom Wilkinson 3-40. Dave Acton top scored with 46 as Glazebury were dismissed for 150.
Glazebury 2nd entertained Wilmslow Wayfarers and ended up with a three wicket victory.
Wayfarers were dismissed for 161, Sean Caine taking 4-33, Paul Charlton 3-29 and Adam Stevenson 3-28.
Opener Wayne Hargreaves hit an unbeaten 74 as Glazebury replied with 162-7.
