GRAPPENHALL posted their second 300-plus score of the season in their Vivio Cheshire County League game at Bowdon – but could not force victory in a game cut short by bad light.
Their final score of 304-7 came after a disastrous start with Grappers on 10-2 with brothers James and Luke McCoy both back in the pavilion.
But skipper Richard Green joined the in-form Adam Roylance in a 154-run partnership before Green holed out in the deep for an excellent 64.
Mike Sambell made a quick 21 as Grappenhall pushed for quick runs, and Roylance fell just six short of a second century of the season with the score on 242-5.
Liam Parkinson joined Josh McClelland, and the pair literally ran Bowdon ragged as runs continued to flow before they fell for 27 and 47 respectively.
Grappenhall eventually declared after 52 overs with a massive score of 304-7, setting the home side a highly improbable target.
Bowdon’s first wicket fell at 14 and at 42-2, they were way behind the scoring rate.
At 106-4, the home side basically shut up and plodded to 153 without further losses. The game ended 10 overs early due to bad light.

Then Wilkinson showed his form with the ball to take 7-25 as the visitors were tumbled out for 86.
Appleton’s poor run continued with a defeat at the hands of Wistaston Village at Lyons Lane. Appleton were dismissed for 119 and the visitors lost just three wickets reaching their target.
