Grappers thrive on batsman's paradise

GRAPPENHALL amassed a staggering 356-7 declared when they travelled to Hyde in the Cheshire County League.
On a wicket that was a batsman’s paradise, they batted first and got off to a perfect start with opener Adam Roylance hammering a superb 136 and fellow opener James McCoy hitting 61.
There were further contributions of 42 from Aussie Josh McClelland and 40 from Mike Sambell as Grappers put the home attack to the sword.
The target was far too much for the home side, but they also found plenty of runs, finishing on 255-7 to earn a draw. Gaz Burns was Grappenhall’s most successful bowler with 3-46.
It was a winning draw for Grappers and maintains their unbeaten record for a third week.
Grappenhall 2nd notched up a six wicket victory over Hyde at Broad Lane after the visitors had reached 188-5, John Hayes taking 3-67.
Grappers replied with 189-4, Jamie Bye hitting 54, Will Sharp 77 and Andy Tetlow 40 not out.
But Grappenhall 3rd went down by eight wickets against Urmston.
Batting first, Grappenhall reached 177-8, Jamie Bye 61, Matt Brown 34 and Neil Titchard 32 not out. Urmston coasted to victory on 181-2.
Warrington coasted to a six wicket victory over Irby at Walton Lea after the visitors were pegged back to a modest 149-6. Kyle Adams took 2-34 and Matt Adams 2-21.
Opener Chris Kirby hit an unbeaten 75 as Warrington replied with 152-4, Richard Heaney contributing 32.
Warrington 2nd won by eight wickets at Irby, where the home side batted first and reached 185-6. Ashley Scholes was the picked of Warrington’s bowlers, taking 4-56.
James Hughes hit an unbeaten 62, Andy Kirby 58 and James Rudd 33 as Warrington replied with 189-2.
There was a disastrous result for Warrington 4th who were tumbled out for 34 after home side Didsbur had totalled 186.
The Cheshire Alliance “derby” game between Rylands and Appleton at Lyons Lane ended in victory for the visitors. Batting first, Rylands declared on 244-5, Peter Knowles hitting an unbeaten 100, Andy Lowe 58 not out and Eddie Platt 38. Jack Talbot was Appleton’s most effective bowler with 3-45.
Appleton were dismissed for 219, despite Dom Smith’s fighting 64 and Samuel Swift hitting 29 not out. Adam Peters took 5-80.
Glazebury’s unbeaten run came to an end when they were tumbled out for 89, after Wilmslow Wayfarers had declared on 201-4. Jack Warhurst top scored with 21.
Stretton fought back after posting a modest 126 to bowl out home side Old Parkonians for 71. J. Mir took 5-29. But Stretton 2nd went down by seven wickets after hitting 188 against Port Sunlight, Richard Taylor hitting 59. The visitors replied with 189-3.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Ashley totalled 163-8 before declaring at Lymm Oughtrington Park. The home side’s batsmen failed to perform and Lymm were all out for 97.
Lymm 2nd also went down at Ashley – but only after a nail-biting finish. Lymm batted first and reached 173 and Ashley’s last pair were at the wickets when the winning run was scored
