A 13-year-old boy at Warrington was threatened by a man wielding a knife and robbed of his mobile phone.
The incident took place on a footpath near to Admirals Road, Birchwood.
The boy was riding his bicycle along the footpath at the time.
He handed over his mobile – and the offender ran off in the direction of Woodhouse Close.
Police say he was inn his late 20s or early 30s, about 6ft tall and of medium build. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black hooded jacket and light blue jeans.
DC Simon Fisher, who is investigating the incident, said: “The victim was not injured as a result of the incident but was understandably left shaken by the ordeal. We take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously and will do all we can to trace the offender.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or may have seen the offender fleeing the scene to get in touch.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the offender.”
The incident took place on Friday, October 5 at about 9.30pm. Anyone who can help should call police on 101 or via the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

Awful to read and here’s hoping they catch the scumbag who did this. It must have been terryfying for the youngster, just as it would have been terryfying for anyone of any age. I hope the person responsible is traced, caught and dealt with most severly and very soon 🙁
