New health and wellbeing strategy

A NEW Health and Wellbeing Strategy aims to make people proud of Warrington as a place to live, work and do business.
The strategy is the vision of the Warrington Partnership and Warrington Health and Wellbeing Board, and has recently been adopted by the borough council.
It aims to change public services so they are more focused on promoting and increasing the overall health and wellbeing of people and the borough, over the next three years and beyond.
There are five priorities – closing the gap between deprived wards and the rest of the borough, ensuring the best start in life and transition to adulthood, building safe, sustainable communities, living and working well and promoting wellbeing for older people.
It will look at factors such as living environment, housing quality, feeling safe, feeling connected and employment. It aims to meet key challenges such as reducing the affects of alcohol on the community and dealing with an ageing population.
Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for health, wellbeing adult services for the council, said: “Partners across Warrington are committed to promoting and improving the long term wellbeing of the people who live and work here.
“The strategy covers a wide range of topics but essentially it’s about us all listening to residents and working together to make constructive changes to the services we provide so that they have a positive affect on people’s health and wellbeing.”
