Cycle ace Wiggins in town

RESIDENTS of Warrington will have a chance to see Olympic gold medallist and Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, as he cycles through the borough as part of the Tour of Britain.
Wiggins, along with fellow Team GB cyclist and World Champion, Mark Cavendish, will be passing through parts of Lymm, Rixton and Culcheth on Monday, September 10, during the second stage of the race, which starts in Nottingham and ends in Knowsley.
Town Hall chiefs plan to make an order prohibiting driving on a number of roads across the borough to clear the way for the race.
The cyclists will be passing through the borough between 12.30pm and 1.30pm and the restrictions will be in force as and when signs are displayed on site.
Access to roads on the route will be under the control of the event organiser and the police.
Roads affected are: High Legh Road (entire length) the A56 Higher Lane from High Legh Road to Burford Lane, the entire lengths of Burford Lane, Mill Lane and Warburton Bridge Road, the A57 Manchester Road from Warburton Bridge Road to Chapel Lane, the entire lengths of Chapel Lane, School Lane, and Dam Lane,
Manchester Road from Dam Lane to Glazebrook Lane, the entire lengths of Glazebrook Lane, Holcroft Lane, the A574 Warrington Road, Common Lane, Broseley Lane and Wilton Lane.
Emergency access will be maintained for the duration of the event and local and urgent access will be maintained wherever possible.
