Return ballot forms or expect a visit

WARRINGTON residents are being asked to return their electoral registration form to ensure they do not miss out on voting.
Warrington Borough Council’s elections team sent out the registration forms in July to all households. All eligible voters, including those who will soon turn 18, should be registered.
Information will be used to update the Electoral Register and the new one is due to be published in October ready for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections in November.
People who are not on the electoral register cannot vote in elections, and those who do not register will be visited by a council canvasser in September.
Changes to details can be registered using the 24 hour freephone telephone service 0800 025 3148 or text 020 3137 9094 or register online www.register-online.co.uk
Warrington’s electoral services manager Alison McCormick said: “You must, by law, return the form each year, whether you use your vote or not is your choice.
“There are 34,000 properties that still have not yet returned their forms and to avoid having someone knock on your door you should return your form straight away. Being on the council tax register does not automatically mean that you are on the electoral role. “
