A WOMAN fraudulently received benefit totalling more than £10,000 over a period of seven years, magistrates were told at Warrington.
Jacqueline Booth, aged 55, of Ashcroft Road, Lymm was paid the money between October 2005 and March this year, the court was told.
She pleaded guilty to failing to declare she had savings during the period she was claiming.
The court heard she was overpaid housing benefit of £5,814 and council tax benefit of £4,363, making a total of £10,177.
Booth was placed under a 7pm-7am curfew for 16 weeks and ordered to pay costs of £675.
Adrian Webster, Warrington Borough council’s benefits manager, said: “Every day in the UK over 200 benefit thieves are caught. The clear message is if you commit benefit fraud you will be caught.”

I can confirm that the £10,177 does have to be repaid.
