DRUGS watchdogs in Warrington have issued a warning about the dangers of an ecstasy-like drug which could be circulating in the town.
PMA is produced in tablet and powder form, is stronger than ecstasy, and is potentially lethal.
The drug is in the form of an off white hard crystal substance, similar in appearance to that of MDMA crystal.
It has also been supplied as cocaine and bubble (mephedrone) and it also comes in the form of pink pills, known as pink ecstasy, Dr Death, or Pink McDonalds, because the pills are embossed with an M.
PMA can increase blood pressure, body temperature and pulse rates and as little as a quarter of a tablet (60mg) can have a significant effect.
The main symptoms to look out for are profuse sweating, racing heart beat, extreme muscle tension, delirious ranting, very high body temperature.
If any person is showing signs of these symptoms it’s essential to dial 999 and ask for immediate medical assistance.
Anyone concerned about their drug and alcohol use or that or someone they know should contact CRI Warrington on 01925 415176.
