Major re-build for school

0

PLANS have been drawn up for a major reconstruction of a Warrington primary school, enabling it to accommodate 258 pupils, compared to the current 215.
Staff numbers at Bewsey Lodge Primary, in Lodge Lane, Bewsey would increase from 30 to 33 as a result of the development.
The scheme is to be put to the borough council’s planning committee tonight.
A report to the committee stresses that the school – built in the middle of the last century – has fallen into disrepair and is no longer considered acceptable for modern teaching.
The plan involves refurbishing a central, two-storey block which contains the entrance foyer, offices, dining hall and kitchens and demolish and replace two single storey teaching wings.
An updated school travel plan has been submitted with the application. On-site parking provision will increased from 15 to 23 spaces.
