FAMILY and friends bid a fond farewell to disability campaigner Dave Connor during a celebration of his life at Walton Lea Crematorium.
Several hundred mourners turned up to pay their last respects following Dave’s sudden death on June 26.
Dave, 49, a former GB disabled basketball player, was a well known member of the Warrington Disability Partnership charity.
Despite the set back of suffering a spinal injury after falling off a hotel balcony in Spain 23 years ago, he continued to live life to the full, even after being diagnosed with cancer in 1998.
A passionate Warrington Wolves fan, who also helped set up a Warrington Wolves disabled sports club he inspired many disabled people to participate in sport.
He would have been celebrating his 50th birthday next week and had been chosen to carry the Paralympic torch in August.
His family have requested donations for the Vikings Wheelchair Basketball Club which he helped set up and Disability Sports in Schools.
