SIXTY youngsters at Warrington have been awarded “mini-degrees” by the Children’s University.
The awards were handed out by Professor Steven Broomhead, interim chief executive at the borough council and chancellor the Children’s University scheme, hosted locally by the Warrington Wolves Foundation.
The ceremony was at the Padgate campus of Chester University.
The Children’s University aims to provide exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences to children out of school hours to encourage their ambitions and aspirations.
Thirteen schools in the town are signed up to the Children’s University and all activity either takes place in after-school clubs or at public learning destinations, such as the Halliwell Jones stadium, the Pyramid and the Parr Hall.
Professor Broomhead said: “I believe it is important that children learn, study hard and achieve all that they can in order to keep their options open in the future. That is why I’m pleased and proud to support this scheme.”
