Shops plan is thrown out

PLANNING bosses at Warrington have thrown out a controversial proposal to convert a semi-detached house into two shop units.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee have rejected the scheme in Station Road, Great Sankey.
The plan involved creating two shop fronts on the side of the house, facing onto Hawthorne Avenue.
An existing hedge and fence would have been removed.
Twelve neighbours lodged objections – as did Great Sankey Parish Council
They claimed the development would create traffic and road safety problems on the busy junction of Station Road and Hawthorne Avenue and that the change of use would be out of character with adjoining houses – particularly if the new units were used for printing, food production or florists as suggested in the application.
