DETECTIVES at Warrington have thanked people in the town for their help following bank robbery last Friday.
The robbery – reported by Warrington-Worldwide on Saturday – was at the Natwest Bank in London Road, Stockton Heath at about 5.20pm.
Two men, one armed with a sledgehammer, forced their way into the bank and stole cash before fleeing in a black Volvo.
Police were on the scene within minutes and a helicopter was used in the operation. But the offenders remain at large.
DI Matt Durcan who is heading the investigation said: “We have had several witnesses coming forward who have provided us with some excellent information and we’d like to thank them for this.
“However my team still need those who witnessed the robbery but haven’t yet come forward to get in touch as they may hold vital information.
“This investigation is a priority for my team and we are working round the clock to bring the offenders to justice.
“However we need your help. This happened in broad daylight and we are aware that many who sat watching the incident unfold were recording the events and could have footage that will help us identify the offenders.
“We would urge you to help police, and the staff at the bank who were deeply shocked by their ordeal, by calling Warrington CID on 101 if you recorded the robbery on your phone.
“We don’t need to seize the phone or keep it from you.
“We are doing our bit, so please do yours and help us catch these offenders.”
Anyone with information should contact Warrington CID on 101 or information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
