House-into-shops plan

A PLAN to convert a semi-detached house into two shop units has sparked protests from neighbours at councillors at Warrington.
The proposal involves a house in Station Road, Great Sankey – on the corner of Hawthorne Avenue.
It would involve creating two shop fronts on the side of the house, facing onto Hawthorne Avenue, and removing an existing hedge and fence.
Twelve neighbours have lodged objections, along with Great Sankey Parish Council
They claim the development would create traffic and road safety problems on a busy junction and that the change of use would be out of character with adjoining houses – particularly if the new units were used for printing, food production or florists as suggested in the application.
The matter will be considered by the borough council’s development management committee on Thursday, May 31.
