Blaze at food plant

THREE fire engines were involved in an operation at Warrington early today after fire broke out in an industrial deep fat fryer.
The blaze was at Goodlife Vegetarian Foods, Tatton Court, Woolston shortly before 7am.
Fire crews are still at the scene and the fire is contained within the fryer unit.
A Fire Service spokesman said the unit, some 15m in length, caught fire due to excess heat in the cooking oil. The intensity of the heat caused light units above the unit to melt.
Staff were evacuated from the building, firefighters isolated mains gas and four crew members, wearing breathing apparatus, used a foamline dry powder extinghisher.
Mains electricity was also isolated and the crews used a thermal imaging camera to search for hot spots in areas around the affected unit.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus investigated the loft and ducting space to search for secondary fires, but the blaze was completely contained to the cooking unit. Production has ceased in the incident unit but other surrounding units were unaffected.
Traffic flow around the area was unaffected.
