Shop staff forced to open safe

ROBBERS escaped with cash from a convenience shop in Great Sankey, Warrington, when staff were forced to open a safe.
The incident took place on Sunday (February 19) at the One Stop Shop in Park Road.
Two members of staff were in the shop cashing up at the time. At around 10.15pm they went to unlock the front door and leave the premises when a man approached the door.
He began to kick the bottom glass panel of the door and was then joined by another man who also started to kick the glass panel.
One of the members of staff has tried to close the shutters but the men have kicked through the glass panel and scrambled into the shop.
Once inside, one of the offenders has jumped over the counter and tried to get into the till ? shouting at the staff to open the till. A third offender also entered the shop.
The offenders demanded that the staff open the safe. One of the members of staff was lead to the rear office and the safe was opened.
The offenders stole a quantity of cash, which they put into a white carrier bag, and then fled the scene on foot.
The first offender is described as around 5? 10″ tall, of average build with freckles on his face.
He was wearing a blue jacket with a motif on the left side of the chest and the hood was pulled up. He was also wearing black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and his face was covered with a dark coloured scarf.
The second offender is described as white, around 5? 9″ tall, of average build and was wearing a black jacket with the hood pulled up, with a white motif in the centre of the collar, a dark coloured scarf across his face, black trousers and shoes.
The third offender is described as white, around 5? 7″ tall, of average build and was wearing a back hooded top with the hood pulled up, dark trousers and a scarf that was covering his mouth.
DC Anthony Sullivan, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are currently carrying out a number of enquiries in relation to this incident and are urging anyone who was in the local area at the time and has seen something significant to get in touch.
“We are also urging anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the offenders to contact us immediately.
“We take any incidents of this nature seriously and will do all we can to trace those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.”
Anyone with any information, which might assist officers with their enquiries are urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 975 of 19th February.
