Restored church re-opens

A WARRINGTON church building – restored following a £42,000 grant -was packed for its official re-opening.
The former Kent Street Mission, Latchford, has been renovated thanks to the grant from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd). Westy Christian Fellowship acquired the premises in 2009 and started to look at ways that it could be improved to benefit the whole community. A structural survey showed that the main hall needed underpinning and further extensive repairs.
The WREN grant paid for the structural work. Further improvements were then undertaken and with the help of other donors and much self-help, the first phase of renovation is now complete.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor of Warrington Mike Biggin congratulated members on the work done and said that he hoped the local community would make good use of the premises.
Visitors then enjoyed a tour of the building, visited a photographic exhibition and enjoyed a buffet.
