EIGHT students from Penketh High School are preparing to embark on an exchange mission to Soweto in South Africa bearing gifts – included football shirts donated by Warrington Town Football Club.
As well as the shirts collected by Thomas Gibbons, 17, the club also donated a large number of Warrington Town pens to be handed out to youngsters at Kwadeda High School during the visit which takes place from February 7-15.
The youngsters will be helping out teaching various skills as part of a cultural exchange which will also be part of a feature film being created by the school, based around the Olympics.
The film will be premiered at the Odeon cinema, Westbrook, next May and it is hoped the South African students will be able to visit for the premier.
Thanking Warrington Town for the shirts Thomas said: “It will be great to see some of the African youngsters running around in our town’s colours!”
