LIBERAL Democrat candidate Sandra Bradshaw (pictured) – a member of Poulton-with-Fearnhead Parish Council – has held the vacant Poulton North seat on Warrington Borough Council for her party.
She topped the poll in a four-cornered by-election battle arising from the tragic death of Cllr Colin Oliver.
It was the third time the seat had been contested this year.
But it was a close result, with Cllr Bradshaw just 43 votes ahead of Labour. And she will have to defend the seat again in the borough council elections in May.
The full result was: Sandra Bradshaw (Lib Dem) 776; Billy Lines-Rowlands (Lab) 733; Mark Chapman (Cons) 147; James Ashington (UKIP) 79.

What a waste of time and money! This does nothing to alter the complexion of the Council at the Town Hall. How this woman is going to be able to find time in her busy schedule to work for the people of Poulton North is beyond me.
It may not alter anything on the Council, but I presume due process was followed following the death of Colin Oliver. At least give the lady a chance before you write her off.
This was an unnecessary by-election. All parties could have agreed to wait until May next year, when it will have to be done again! The two by-elections in the last four months have cost the thick end of £30,000 – that is a ridiculous waste of money.
Congratulations Sandra, keep up the good work.
perhaps council tax payer …..you ask the other ward borough councilors who some too have full tiime jobs (and a receive an allowance for doing the role of a councillor ) the same question ,,and we will await their replies ,,, by the way us women do have the embedded gene of multitasking ,,,,,,,,,,,
i’m so happy that Sharon got in…at least she LIVES in the ward unlike the Lab candidate (who also listed his many roles in the umpteen flyers they posted through my door) p.s DELIGHTED you did make me chuckle with your multi-tasking comment!
