A MAJOR fire has almost completely destroyed a house at Warrington during the night.
Five fire appliances were called to the scene in Algernon Street when fire broke out in the terraced house.
There was a partial collapse of the building, but firefighters managed to prevent the blaze was spreading to other properties.
The occupants of the property were out at the time.
Fire crews used main jets and hosereel jets to tackle the blaze, the cause of which is being investigated.
In another incident, a fire involving an exterior gas meter caused minor damage at a house in Foxfield Close, Orford. A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire.
Two fire engines from Stockton Heath were called to deal with a fire at a semi-detached house in Orchard Avenue, Lymm.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the blaze using a hosereel jet and a large industrial fan was used to clear smoke from the property. Smoke alarms were fitted at the house and activated.
Fire crews were also called to a property in Hough’s Lane, Higher Walton, Warrington to help pump away flood water possibly caused by a burst in an underground reservoir. Crews helped the occupants salvage property from the premises
