Bringing the world into the classroom

A WARRINGTON school has won a top award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
The British Council’s prestigious International School Award has been presented to Woolston Primary School.
The award is given to schools that do outstanding work in international education to encourage young people to gain the cultural understanding and skills needed to become global citizens.
Woolston Primary’s international work includes celebrating European Languages Day, links with schools in France, Malaga and Serbia, learning about how other countries celebrate different festivals such as Christmas and Harvest and looking at international books on World Book Day.
Chairman of governors Cath Shipton said: “This is a well deserved award in recognition of the excellent teamwork and dedication of the whole school. Well done to everyone! The benefit of the wider curriculum enables a greater awareness of the differing cultures and countries, and is something that will remain with the pupils for life.”
