Women urged to get on their bikes

2

NEW cycle routes are being launched in Warrington by the Breeze Network – British Cycling’s network for women cyclists.
The rides are organised by female British Cycling-trained Breeze champions and aim to introduce more women to enjoy the fun, freedom and fresh air of a bike ride.
Rides are taking place all year round, and are ideal for women and mums looking to build confidence and skills riding a bike.
The next ride takes place on Tuesday November 22 at 10am along a traffic-free route around Birchwood Park.
Three times more men get on a bike for fun than women, according to research by Sport England and the Breeze network aims to close this gap by offering advice and support to help women overcome some of the barriers which stop them from getting on a bike, such as access to cycle hire, someone to ride with, and safe routes in their local area.
Natalie Justice, Breeze Network programme manager for British Cycling, said “Breeze bike rides are perfect for helping women get and about in a fun and informal way and meet like-minded people.”

  1. Not just a ride – there’ll be a bit of local history thrown in (good excuse for a rest!).

Discover Birchwood’s development from a treacherous bog, then fertile farmland, followed by a massive bomb factory, through to today’s vibrant community where people live, work and play.

So get that old bike out of the shed today!
