A WARRINGTON graduate has launched a £3,100 fundraising campaign to help set up an innovative theatre group.
Ben Hallworth, 21, recently graduated from York St John University where he studied performance and theatre.
Now living in Warrington, he aims to set up his own theatre company “Animated Aberration.”
He said: “It has a vision to tackle cultural trauma, break down social stigma’s and attack individual subjectivity through a manner which identifies and consequently abstains from what the audience expects from the performance.”
Ben said the group will push the limits of what is regarded as acceptable through an avant-garde approach with “exciting and shocking theatre.”
He added: “The kind of subjects I am looking to tackle are homelessness, youth prostitution, mental illness, addictions, amongst others.”
Future plans include schools’ workshops on skills not traditionally taught in class such as set design and directing, as well as trying to break down stigma.
