YOUNG people from Warrington South took over the council chamber in the Town Hall to mark Local Democracy Week.
The New Wave event organised by South Warrington Youth Forum Team was a success with 25 young people from local schools participating.
Taking part were Appleton College, Sir Thomas Boteler High School, Bridgewater High School, Grappenhall Hall School, Lymm High School, Cardinal Newman High School and Priestley College.
Issues discussed included negative relationships between young people and bus drivers, cost of leisure activities, lack of lighting in parks and lack of communication between school councils and young people in the south of Warrington.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, the borough council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “It’s really positive that Warrington’s young people are getting involved in democracy and tackling issues that affect them. As a council, we look forward to working with them on the topics they want to address.”
