ATTRACTIONS ranging from paintings to paella were on offer at Grappenhall Community Centre’s Village Fete which helped provide a boost for local charities.
Crowds of people turned up throughout the day and helped raise more than £900 which will go towards improvements in the sports hall and the kitchen of the Olde Barn.
Centre manager Pauline McManus said: “We were busy all day, despite the weather. It is one of our main fundraising events and we were pleased it was well supported.”
Friends of Grappenhall Community Centre and other volunteers organised a range of stall including cakes, paella and crafts. Representatives of the Police and Fire service also had stalls.
There was an art exhibition organised by those who attend art classes at the centre. More than 50 works were on show and a £25 voucher for the best piece went to Janice Brown for her work Sunbaked.
During the day five of the works were sold, and the artists donated 10 per cent of the sale to the centre.
The day was opened by the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Mike Biggin. Other charities, Grappenhall Heyes Walled Garden and the Grappenhall Library Project, also raised funds during the day.
