A WARRINGTON man who is planning a solo expedition around Iceland is looking for sponsors to raise funds for Help For Heroes.
Warren Aspinall, 21, (pictured) of Knutsford Road, is planning to trek the circumference of Iceland, 850 miles, in 31 days – including the Christmas and New Year period -and hopes to raise £15,000.
He said: “My father served in the Royal Artillery and my grandfather served with the Household Cavalry. I am doing this truly unique fundraising event as I hold a lot of respect for the men and women who serve for our country. I have had my expedition verified by Help for Heroes.”
He added: “I will be mainly using Route 1 and hope to complete it in 31 days. I am looking to start the event at the beginning of December.
“I believe that nobody else has ever completed this route before by foot. Some of it is road, some of it tracks and some of it ice roads.
“There are parts I won’t be able to use because it is too dangerous for walking.”
Warren has launched a fundraising campaign and is hoping that local people will support him to raise his target of £15,000. He is also looking for people and businesses to sponsor his kit.
“I am aware that this is a large and specific amount, but this is because between my father and grandfather, 15 years were served,” he added.
Anyone wanting to sponsor Warren can do so by contacting him at 07510 306 296 or via email at [email protected]
