CHESHIRE Chord Company, a women’s a cappella chorus based in Warrington, took part in the famous Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
The Welsh town has staged the international event since 1947 and attracts about 4,000 performers from around the world, for six days of music, song and dance.
Cheshire Chord Company, competed against choirs from the UK and Australia, and came third in the barbershop category competition. It was a close-run thing and only two marks separated the top three choirs.
After the competition all the choirs took part in a “big sing” with tenor Wynne Evans. As the audience relaxed in the sunshine they were entertained to a rendition of “Hello Mary Lou.”
Wynne Evans said he had chosen Cheshire Chord as one of his highlights from the whole week in a BBC2 Wales review programme.
The choir rehearse at William Beamont High School on Thursday evenings and further information about the group can be found on their website at www.cheshirechord.co.uk
