Wind turbine plan withdrawn

A PLAN for a 25m high wind turbine at a Stretton farm was withdrawn before it could be considered by borough planners.
The application by Tim Blackshaw, of Walnut Tree Farm, Northwich Road, has been on the agenda of the development management committee twice. On the first occasion it was deferred to allow time for councillors to visit the site and on the second it was withdrawn by the applicant.
Stretton and Whitley parish councils lodged objections, as did 32 neighbouring residents, mainly on the grounds of the visual impact on the Green Belt.
But officers recommended the application be approved and said the turbine would result in only a moderate impact on the openness of the Green Belt.
The applicant will be able to re-submit the plan. His aim is to generate and supply electricity for his farm and a document storage business which also operates from the site.
